W1051 TL-C from 35 Squadron
On 27th April 1942, the crew of Halifax W1051 TL-C from 35 Squadron took off at 2032 hrs from RAF Kinloss on the North East coast of Scotland to participate in an attack on the German Battleship Tirpitz which was moored at the time in Fættenfjord in Norway.
This aircraft was hit by flak just west of Trondheim while flying to the target resulting in the aircraft losing height. Consequently the crew jettisoned their load of mines and returned to base landing safely at RAF Kinloss at 0532 hrs on 28th April 1942. |
