W1050 TL-F from 35 Squadron
On 27th April 1942, the crew of Halifax W1050 TL-F from 35 Squadron took off at 2033 hrs from RAF Kinloss on the North East coast of Scotland to participate in an attack on the German Battleship Tirpitz which was moored at the time in Fættenfjord in Norway.
On arriving in the target area they found that the target was obscured by a smoke screen, however, they dropped their mines where they believed Tirpitz to be. The aircraft and crew returned safely to RAF Kinloss landing at 0520 hrs on 28th April 1942. |
